As of version 2.5.0.1, we have introduced a web browser to CoCreate. The web browser is an exciting new feature in that it allows you to show many of your favourite websites in your CoCreate workspace. Once you have opened a web browser, all other participants become viewers of your web browser receiving an image stream that refreshes every 1-2 seconds.
Anatomy of the browser
To open the web browser, select this icon in the menu from within your workspace.
The browser contains many functions typical of your preferred browser - search, backward/forward page navigation, refresh and bookmarks. The bookmarks bar allows you to populate the web browser with saved pages for quicker access. The bookmarks are saved at a session level, and so will be the same across workspaces within the same session.
Ownership
The creator of the web browser within the session is the owner of the browser. The owner controls all aspects of the web browser - interacting with the browser and adding bookmarks for example. Everyone else in the session is a viewer. Viewers receive a visual stream, but cannot interact with the pages displayed in the web browser. Viewers of the browser see 'Viewer only' in the top left right hand corner of their browser.
If a Viewer wishes to take control of the browser, selecting the 'Viewer only' button reveals an option to 'Request Control'. Selecting 'Request Control' prompts the owner of the browser to allow or deny the viewer to take control. If there is no active owner of the web browser, the 'Request Control' button will read as 'Take Control'.
Website Support
We have tested some commonly used websites in order to determine whether they were supported. We are improving support for a wide range of websites continuously and will be incorporating the newest Microsoft libraries with support for more common websites when they are released (estimated date late 2020).
